An idea: travel planner

I’ve been planning some trips to pass the time until it’s safe to travel again, but haven’t found a great way to collect everything in one place - so this is a mock-up of my ideal trip planner.

Inspired by Pocket and Airbnb wishlists, the idea is to be able to collect travel-related bookmarks from any website, then categorize them as transit, stays, dining, or activity. I always like to compare all of my options (e.g., across Airbnb, VRBO, Hotels.com), so the goal here is to make this cross-referencing easier.

The app collects all your bookmarks to allow for exploration of options. Being able to plan a trip with friends easily is an important part of the idea, so there is a section under each bookmark for voting and comments.

Itineraries can be created by adding dates to individual bookmarks. The app provides an estimated budget for each itinerary as well as a per-person cost. If there is a cap to the budget, different combinations of items can be tried until it’s met.
